The firm’s managing partner, joined the firm in January 1985, and since that time has handled over seventy appeals, over thirty writs, and hundreds of trial court motions and oppositions. In 2018 he was certified as a specialist in appellate law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. His appellate experience includes practice before the California Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and has also included filing an Amicus Brief and a Petition for Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. He approaches appellate work from the perspective of a trial lawyer, having learned that craft from Bob Holstein, who was the founder of the firm and one of the community’s finest lawyers. Mr. Unitt received his B.A. in History and Political Science from UC Riverside, and his law degree from the UC Davis School of Law. He has also completed the “Mediating the Litigated Case” program, a forty-two hour course offered through the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution of the Pepperdine Law School.
